Beata Malewski
Born in Warsaw, Poland, I embarked on a journey of philosophical inquiry that has shaped my understanding of the human experience. My early studies in philosophy laid the foundation for a lifelong exploration of ideas, cultures, and the intricacies of existence.
Over four decades ago, I found my home in Paris.
Currently, I am an auditor at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, where I delve into the civilisations of the ancient Near East, with a particular focus on the biblical world. This academic pursuit deeply influences my artistic creations, allowing me to weave the threads of history, spirituality, and humanity into the fabric of my work.
Despite my deep engagement with philosophy, art has always been a fundamental part of my life. From an early age, I felt a compelling urge to express my thoughts and feelings through painting.
A significant chapter in my artistic journey unfolded at the Arcades art school, located just outside Paris. For over ten years, I immersed myself in an inspiring environment that nurtured my creativity. There, I had the opportunity to learn a wide array of techniques, from traditional methods to contemporary practices. This extensive training equipped me with the skills and confidence to experiment fearlessly with my art.
My paintings are born from spontaneity. Each piece is a quick expression of my thoughts and reflections—often layered over earlier works, creating a dialogue between past and present.
The narratives in my paintings depict a poignant journey: people traversing a scorched earth, embodying the struggle and triumph of learning to write, to communicate, and to connect. I do not seek to judge; instead, I aim to provoke thought and reflection. My hope is that, ultimately, good prevails over evil and that human resilience shines through even the darkest of times.
Through my art, I invite viewers to join me in contemplating the complexities of our shared human experience—a journey marked by suffering, learning, and the indomitable spirit of hope.
